Title: LASH

Duration: 50 Minutes

Synopsis: Meet Sonny. Its the weekend and time for him to hit the town. To go ‘out out’ and experience everything a Friday night has to offer a young man. Dodgy dealers, even dodgier workmates, and the local hard nuts merge into a toxic mix that assaults the senses. LASH reflects a youth wasted in more ways than one. Part gig, part theatre, LASH takes us on Sonnys booze-fulled adrenaline rush, through bustling streets and bouncing clubs, where big tunes and mad characters collide. LASH is a wild night out that explores what life is REALLY like for the youth of today.

Selected Press:

‘Stokes' rhyming, erratic monologue bursts with fury, an urgent yet articulate rant against a government that stopped caring.’ The Stage

‘This hugely engaging solo monologue captivates the audience from the very start. Stokes’ writing keeps us guessing what might be coming next…the perfect late night show, part gig, part theatre, but wholly entertaining.’ Theatre Weekly

‘There’s a lyrical genius, almost poetic boisterousness, on offer here. Stokes writes with exuberant, maniacal energy. A contemporary Alice in Wonderland.’ What’s On Stage

‘The most impressive thing I’ve seen at the Edinburgh Fringe this year. Written in lyrical, rhyming verses, Stokes has crafted a remarkable script that seamlessly blends comedy, tragedy, and political commentary.’ North West End UK

‘You’ll be relentlessly entertained, spending a night out with one of the best shows at the Fringe. Sonny seizes your attention instantly, wrapping it tighter around his finger; you climb the mountains of cheeky metaphor and loud language.’ Entertainment Now

‘The dexterity on display in Stokes’ script is never less than impressive and is frequently dazzling. Soundbites and soliloquies all collide as reflections on what it means to be both a man and a hedonist in a post-pandemic and post-Brexit world. Lash is well worth going out out for.’ The Recs
